ചോക്ലേറ്റ്
വ്യവസ്ഥയനുസരിച്ച് എല്ലാ വനിതാ കോളേജുകളിലും P.G. കോഴ്സുകള്ക്ക് ഒരു സീറ്റ് പുരുഷനുളളതാണ്. അത്തരമൊരു സീറ്റില് ചേര്ന്നു പഠിക്കുവാന് ശ്യാം ( പൃഥ്വിരാജ് ) എന്ന തെമ്മാടി ഒരു വനിതാ കോളേജില് വരുന്നു. രസകരമായ ഈ plot സച്ചിയും സേതുവും ചേര്ന്നാണ് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുക്കുന്നത്. സംവിധാനം ഷാഫി.
അങ്ങിനെ പഠിക്കാന് വരുന്ന നായകനെ ആ കോളേജിലെ ‘വില്ലത്തി’മാര് എതിര്ക്കുന്നു, ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിക്കുന്നു. അതേ, നിങ്ങള് ഊഹിച്ച പോലെ അവന് ആ പെണ്കുട്ടികളുടെ നേതാവുമായി പ്രേമത്തിലാവുന്നതാണ് തുടര്ന്നുളള കഥ. കുറച്ച് ക്ലീഷേകളുമുണ്ട്. എന്നാല് സിനിമ ആസ്വാദ്യമാണ്. അറുപ്പുളവാക്കുന്ന പ്രകടനങ്ങളാണ് പൊതുവേ സലിം കുമാറില് നിന്നുണ്ടാവാറുളളത്. പക്ഷെ ഈ സിനിമയിലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ തമാശകള് നമ്മെ നന്നായി ചിരിപ്പിക്കും. ചിരിയുണര്ത്തുന്ന വേറേയും ഒരുപാട് രംഗങ്ങളുണ്ട് ചിത്രത്തില്. അതു പോരേ നമുക്ക്, വലിയ അവകാശവാദങ്ങളില്ലാത്ത ഒരു കച്ചവട മലയാള സിനിമയില് നിന്ന്?
സാധാരണ സിനിമകളിലെ ആണ് - പെണ് യുദ്ധത്തിനൊടുവില് പെണ്ണ് തോല്ക്കണമല്ലോ. രചയിതാക്കള് പുതിയവരായതുകൊണ്ടാവണം, ഈ സിനിമയില് അങ്ങിനെയൊരു misogynistic സമീപനം ഇല്ല, സമാധാനം. നായകനും, നായികക്കും, കൂട്ടുകാര്ക്കുമെല്ലാം മൊബൈല് ഫോണുകളുണ്ട്. അവരത് ധാരാളം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത് കാട്ടുന്നുമുണ്ട്. എന്നാല് അതിപ്രധാനമായ ഒരു കാര്യം, വളരെ പെട്ടെന്ന് നായകനെ അറിയിക്കേണ്ട ഒരവസരം വരുമ്പോള് ഫോണ് വിളിക്കാന് മിനക്കെടാതെ ദൂരെയുളള അയാളുടെ മുറിയിലേക്ക് ഓടി പോകാനാണ് സുഹൃത്തായ ഒരു പെണ്കുട്ടിക്ക് തോന്നുന്നത്. സിനിമ മുന്നോട്ടു കൊണ്ടുപോകാനുളള എളുപ്പത്തിനു വേണ്ടിയാണത്. കഥയില് ചോദ്യമില്ല എന്നു പറയാറുണ്ട്. എന്നാല് തിരക്കഥയില് ചോദ്യമുണ്ട്.
യാതൊരു ആവശ്യവുമില്ലാതെ, ശീമാട്ടിയുടെ പരസ്യം പോലെ, കുറേ പാട്ടുകളുണ്ട് ചിത്രത്തില്. അതൊക്കെ മുറിച്ച് മാറ്റിയുരുന്നെങ്കില് സിനിമ ഒന്നുകൂടി നന്നാവുമായിരുന്നു. ( വൃത്തികെട്ട ആ ഗാനങ്ങളില് നിന്ന് ആളുകളുടെ കൂവല് നിങ്ങളെ ഒരു പരിധിവരെ രക്ഷിക്കും. )
പൃഥ്വിരാജ് എന്ന നടന് വളരെയധികം പുരോഗമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
ചെറുപ്പക്കാര് നായകരായിട്ടുളള കൊളളാവുന്ന ചിത്രങ്ങള് ഇനിയും വരട്ടെ എന്ന് നമുക്ക് ആശിക്കാം.

ഫോണ് വിളിച്ചിട്ട് കിട്ടുന്നില്ല എന്നു സുഹൃത്തായ പെണ്കുട്ടി പറയുന്നുണ്ട് എന്ന് എന്റെ മാന്യ വായനക്കാര് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടിയതിന് നന്ദി. എന്നാല് ഞാന് ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചത് അതല്ല. ഫോണ് വിളിച്ചിട്ട് കിട്ടിക്കാതെ, രചയിതാക്കള് കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ പരവശരാക്കുന്നത് ഒരു വിലകുറഞ്ഞ, പഴഞ്ചന് ഏര്പ്പാടാണ്. നിങ്ങളാലോചിച്ച് നോക്കൂ, നിങ്ങള്ക്ക് ഫോണ് വിളിച്ചിട്ട് കിട്ടാത്ത എത്ര അവസരങ്ങളുണ്ടായിട്ടുണ്ട്? മറ്റേയാള് ഫോണ് off ചെയ്തുവെച്ചിരിക്കുകയോ, പരിധിക്ക് പുറത്തോ ആണെങ്കില് ശരി. പക്ഷെ ഇവിടെ, മേല്പറഞ്ഞ അവസരത്തില് മാത്രം നായകനെ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് ഫോണില് കിട്ടുന്നില്ല എന്ന് വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നില്ല. ഇത്തരം സംഭവങ്ങള് അധികം തല പുണ്ണാക്കാതെ തിരക്കഥ മുന്നോട്ട് കൊണ്ടു പോകാനുളള കുറുക്കുവഴികളാണ്. ഒരു രചയിതാവിന്റെ കഴിവ് ക്രിയാത്മകവും യുക്തിഭദ്രവുമായ പുതിയ സന്ദര്ഭങ്ങള് സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നതിലാണ്.

Anyways , i liked your review this time , exactly what i have written in my reviews .
But you missed the important fact that , it was superb cinematography from azhakappan , and to comment on Roma .

Chocolate is another campus story after the massive success of Classmates .
This one is definitely not that good , but then its an entertainer .
Highlight of the movie should be Prithviraj . He looks absolutely dashing , and has improved his acting talents recently .
Roma is a good find , she is way better a actor than Bhavana , Gopika or kavya . She looks good , has a positive attitude , will not be long before Malluwood lose her to kollywood .
Fantastic camera works , Azhakappan should be up there with the greats of Cinematography .
Good songs , though a bit repetitive music .
Salim Kumar takes the crowd away with his well timed and well presented jokes ., Jayasurya has done well , so has Samvritha and Ramya .(though samvritha needs to rethink about her designer as she looks 0% appealing compared to the other two)
Kudos to the director and the debutant script writer ., they deserve a pat on the back for making an entertainer with out some boring romance that we see time and again in malayalam cinema .
Nothing much to add , Chocolate is an entertainer , be confident that you will get your paisa wasool (Please dont buy black tickets though ;-)

നന്ദന ഓടി സ്റ്റേജിലെത്തുന്നു, അവിടെ അനൂപ് ചന്ദ്രന് അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തോട് ശ്യാമിനെ വിളിച്ചിട്ട് കിട്ടുന്നില്ലെന്ന് പറയുന്നു, അപ്പോളെന്തോ കാരണം അനൂപ് ചന്ദ്രന്റെ കഥാപാത്രം പറയുന്നുണ്ടെന്നാണ് എന്റെ ഓര്മ്മ…
ഫോണ് വിളിക്കുവാന് മിനക്കെടാതെ - എന്നു പറയുമ്പോള് അപ്ഡേറ്റില് പറഞ്ഞ അര്ത്ഥം കിട്ടുന്നില്ല.
എനിക്ക് പലപ്പോഴും വിളിച്ചിട്ട് കിട്ടാതിരുന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. എന്നെയും പലര്ക്കും കിട്ടാതിരുന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്…
ശരിയാണ്, ഒരുതരത്തില് കുറുക്കുവഴിയാണ്… പിന്നെ, റൂമില് കുടുക്കുന്നതും പിടിക്കുന്നതുമൊന്നും പുതുമയുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങളല്ലല്ലോ! അതുകൊണ്ട് അത് ഒപ്പിച്ചെടുക്കാനുള്ള മാര്ഗം ചിന്തിച്ച് തലപ്പുണ്ണാക്കുന്നതില് എന്തര്ത്ഥം!!!

Regarding the “Phone” issue, i totally agree with jayan….Even i had seen such situations in a lot of films..but i never knew why?…it still remains like that…..
None of the film had substantial situations to support such “fate”.
I couldnot agree with Aravind about Roma….i consider her at the same level as Bhavana, Gopika or Kavya…(Its my personal feedback about Roma). Her advantage is her cute and chubby face. She has some sort of innocence in her look and approach. It appeals to a lot of people. Wish she doesnt move to Kolly or Tollywood…She certainly needs to improve her acting and time will make her good….

Very good review. but the caller in the Hotel scene saus he is not picking up and running in panic. You missed it chubbu.
But it is in and out Prithvi show, his romamtic eyes, his killing looks , his action, his dance, his comedy revelation is a treat to watch. Here we got a star who can grow like a huge huge star. He is the man.
